Leo Bussa, age 88, of Rapid City left his residence and went to be with his Lord on March 16, 2011. He was born October 3, 1922 to Leo and Mae (Gross) Bussa. He was brought into this world in the same home he departed from.
Leo worked for Hekman Biscuit Co., Great Lakes Packing the 1st year it opened, drove school bus for Elk Rapids Schools, and worked at Super Tool until it closed.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, building things, and working the family farm. His greatest passion was his garden; and oh what a garden it was! He enjoyed hunting, but only for the perfect Christmas tree. Leo devoted his life to the family farm and taking care of his mother until her passing in 2004. When he first started helping with the farm, they used Oxen to plow and work the fields.
Leo is survived by one sister, Marie (Beverly) Veliquette and 165 nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Leo was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edmond (Loretta), Loyd (Mary), and Elton (Sue) Bussa; and one sister Evelyn (Neil) Way.
A visitation will be held, Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8 p.m., with a vigil for the deceased at 7p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids.
A mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski as officiant.
