I just learned of Bob's passing. We worked together in the Coast Guard in Milwaukee and I have many fond memories of our times together.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way with people which caused everyone he came in contact with to admire him.  Bob lived in the old lighthouse keeper's home in Port Washington, Wisconsin and I don't recall the occasion but as most of the communities do in that area, Port Washington had a summer festival.  I can't remember what service organization it was but Bob was involved in selling cream puffs during festival at one of the booths.  As time was winding down and there were still many cream puffs left he decided to go mobile and asked me to help.  I can still see Bob loading up the cream puffs with Cool Whip and then walking down the street calling, "Get your cream puffs, fresh Wisconsin dairy products!"  I think we sold them all.  After the festival the cherry pit spitting contest at Bob's house was always a highlight. We spent the better part of a day wading through a marsh in Two Rivers, Wisconsin tracking down an oil spill and decided we were getting a little old for that!  I'm sorry I'm so late in expressing my condolences but Bob was a great guy, a natural leader, and one of the best "Coasties" I ever worked with!

He was the only grandpa I ever knew and i couldn't have asked for a better one. I'll be lookin for snow snakes this winter </3

Bob was a fellow driver at Great Northwest, and a great man.  He talked about his family,and his granddaughter who loves horses as much as I do.  He loved his western movies and books!  It was a priviledge to know such a kind man.

I spent several winters with Bob & Kay at Luxury RV Resort. We also shared many meals which always included good-natured banter. Bob's love for his dog, Rusty, was legendary. Bob was a kind man and his affection for people was genuine. Bob, your joy for life was contagious. I will miss you!

Only knew Bob for a short time (two winters at Gulf Shores) but it didn't take long to know what a great guy he was. Always enjoyed meeting up and talking with him while out walking our dogs in the morning. We will miss him.

I have great memories of Bob from our many winters in Gulf Shores with he and Kay. He loved to play cards and I will miss playing cards with him.  He also love his dogs Rusty and Mack and loved to walk with them.  As he walked he carried treats which he would share with all the other dogs in the park, mine included. I will miss seeing him walking.   I want to send my sympathy to Kay and the family.  Love Sue

I met Bob 3 years ago in Gulf Shores and would meet him most every day while I was walking and Rusty was walking Bob. This year enjoyed seeing Bob "train" Mac.  Will miss him greatly.  Our prayers are with Kay and family.

Guy and I met Bob and Kay our first year at Luxury....I am so glad we kept in touch with them over the years....We are so saddened by Bob's passing....I will never forget what a kind man you were Bob....like I always said  a rough tough cream puff....and I will always remember your nick name for me..."Canada"...we truly enjoyed spending time with you both...

I met the Master Chief when I was at Group Milwaukee I was introduced to him asked where I was from told him Traverse City Mi and he informed me that there was only one Coastie from Traverse City.  We became good friends. I knew Bob as he worked at the resort drove bus and worked with my former boss Ron Alpers. I stopped to visit last June Sea Stories were told a lie or two but a friendship keep alive. To Bobs family never will a finer sailor be found. The course is set the sea is calm the landing will be smooth. I am glad to call you my friend a Fellow Vet a Shipmate and last but not least A COASTIE. FAIR Winds and Following Seas. SEMPER PARATUS. We had only known Bob and Kay for just 2 years in Gulf Shores, what a nice, nice man, especially enjoyed watching him walk his dog Mac or maybe it was the other way around.  I'm sure he will be missed dearly.
