

William Cohrs a long term resident of Kewadin passed away last night at the Pavilions nursing home. He had been suffering from Parkinson's disease. William was born in 1933 in Essexville Michigan. In 1952 he married Lois Gremel who was born and raised in Amelith Michigan. They were a happy couple who rarely spent a day apart from the other. William worked at Dow Chemical in Midland for 30 years retiring in 1981 when he and Lois moved to Antrim County. William had a keen interest in the outdoors and had expert knowledge about most of the animals, plants and trees in Northern Michigan. He was known to friends and family as a great collector of bits and bobs which came in handy when he had repair work to do. He had a vivid sense of humor and was well liked by all. He is survived by his wife Lois and his three children Cheryl (Greg) Widenmier, Michael (Arlene) Cohrs and Elizabeth Cohrs (James Rice). Grandsons Matthew (Carrie) Widenmier, Nicholas (Jennifer) Widenmier, Christopher Cohrs, and Alexander Cohrs. Also great grandchildren Adelin Widenmier, Camden Widenmier, and Lynley Widenmier. His funeral will be Monday March 5, 2012 - 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Church.
