My family lived next door to Carl and Myra in Catonsville many years ago! We moved in, in 1979. They were the kindest neighbors we have ever had. Carl always shared his firefighter stories over the years with than, my small children! I loved hearing his bagpipes playing as he would practice in his yard! We were very sad when they moved.
I know now Heaven is enjoying his stories and those bagpipes as we always did!

Carl was the best. He taught me to play the bagpipe and that was the beginning of a great friendship. As much as I enjoyed bagpipe lessons from Carl it may have been having a beer and swapping stories with him afterward that I cherished even more.

Even though before long I moved away I still kept in touch with both Carl and Myra and visited them as often as possible and loved catching up with them. They even came to Maine for my wedding in 1997.

As visits became more infrequent it didn't seem to make any difference. I'd see Carl and it was just like old times again.

It was an honor to know you Carl! Rest in peace.

Carl and Myra became my friends on my second visit to the Gandy Dancer in 1981 and we have been friends ever since. He and Myra thought me how to waltz and at their suggestion I used "Let me call you Sweetheart" as my wedding dance. He was like a father to me, a friendly face in a foreign land.

Carl, you were a class act, I will miss you and remember you and treasure the memories. RIP

Carl was a great gentleman and a patient piping teacher.
