Carolyn Seymour Jackson

Carolyn Jackson born on January 11, 1927, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 22nd at Lorien Mt. Airy, Mt. Airy, MD. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth May Davies Seymour, her father, Arthur Lockhart Seymour, sister, Gloria King, brother, Robert Seymour, and husband, Robert Norman Jackson.

After growing up in the Philadelphia area and graduating from Jenkintown High School (1944), Carolyn married Robert Jackson of Drexel Hill, PA. They were married until his death in 1975. The couple resided in the Philadelphia area for several years before moving to Kansas City, KS with their young daughter and son. While living in the mid-west they expanded their family to include three daughters and three sons. In 1960, the family moved to the Severna Park area where Carolyn lived until 2003.

Carolyn was a gentle, patient, and compassionate person. Her life centered on community and family, caring for her six children, Val Emrich (Dan Schuknecht), Larry Jackson (Debbie), Craig Jackson (Debbie), Lynn Heese (Paul), Carol Goettling (Phil), and Bruce Jackson (JoAn), and her husband. After Robert’s death, she pursued several careers, joined a walking club, and remained involved with friends and family, which has now grown to include 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In 2003, she moved to Lorien Mt. Airy’s assisted living and eventually to the nursing area.

Carolyn will always be remembered for placing others’ wants and needs before her own. She was and is deeply loved by her family and all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on September 10, 2016, at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home, Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075.
