Doris Ann Rocha devoted wife, mother, and grandmother peacefully passed away at her home on July 12, 2022 in Ellicott City, Maryland. Born and raised in Deposit, NY she lived a life of adventure that took her from Deposit to SUNY Oswego,Hawaii and overseas. At Oswego she earned her degree in education and took summer classes at the University of Hawaii.
In 1963 Doris moved to Germany to take a teaching position in the Department of Defense school system. This is where she met the love of her life, Ramon Rocha, and started her next journey as a devoted wife and mother. She and Ramon traveled extensively throughout Europe including to France, Italy, Austria, Spain and behind what was then the “Iron Curtain”, including a visit to the Soviet Union. Doris was an adventurous spirit and instilled travel and curiosity amongst her children and all that knew her.
Doris was a lover of classical music, reading, scrabble, and politics; she was always eager to learn different perspectives and willing to share her insight with minimal pretense. In addition to her continuous adventure and curiosity, she was spiritual and served as the treasurer of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Livonia, NY for many years.
After her husband’s passing, Doris devoted her life to her children and grandchildren: Andrea, Pete (Amy); Carlos (Diann) and her grandchildren: Alicia, Tomas, Augustin, Margaux, Rosalio, and Quinn. She loved being a grandmother and her grandchildren loved being in her presence. She was predeceased by her husband Ramon and her sister Evelyn. She is survived by her brother Joe, and her sisters Marian and Alice, as well as her children and grandchildren.
Doris will be missed immensely but she will be remembered always as a caring, nurturing and loving person….
