It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Virginia (Ewing) Hayes, who passed peacefully on January 19, 2024.
Evelyn was born on July 17, 1930 in Manhattan, NY to William and Madge Uhde Ewing. She lived most of her life in Edison, NJ and will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her needlepointing skills, cheesecakes, tireless negotiating skills, and a very dry Rob Roy made by her favorite bartender, Jack!
Evelyn was strong, a fighter from her childhood years until her last breath. She was a determined, eloquent and independent woman who worked as a model, bookkeeper and retail salesperson. She loved her dogs, especially her girl Tiffany, the Briard. Her best moments and what made her the happiest, came as a mother and grandmother to her two granddaughters, Aly and Jessica. She was a woman that always put others first and made sure that everyone was taken care of, before thinking of herself.
She is survived by her son, John (Heather), granddaughters, Aly (Josh) and Jessica, and a loving extended family including her sister, Mary Ewing and brothers, Peter and Aloric. She is preceded in death by her parents, foster parents, John and Ma Amendola and brother Rusty.
Currently the family is making arrangements for a celebration of life later this Spring. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all those who have offered support and condolences during this difficult time.
