Gregory Robert Shearer

Gregory Robert Shearer, 82, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 8, 2024. Born on November 22, 1941, Greg lived a life filled with love, devotion, and the simple pleasures that brought him great joy.

A dedicated husband of 62 years, Greg shared a deep bond with his late wife, Charlene, who predeceased him. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and shared adventures. Greg was also a proud father to two children, Scott (Thuyen) and Carrie (Abner), and a devoted grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Arianna. His family was his greatest pride, and he reveled in the time spent with them.

Greg was a man who found joy in the everyday. He had a lifelong love of music, particularly jazz, which he often listened to as he relaxed at home. An avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Greg could often be found watching their games, always supporting his team with enthusiasm. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, experiencing new places, and making memories that would last a lifetime. In recent years, Greg developed a passion for podcasts, which he enjoyed listening to during quiet moments.

Greg proudly served in the U.S. Navy, dedicating his life to protecting and defending our nation. His courage, sacrifice, and service will always be remembered.

Throughout his life, Greg demonstrated kindness, patience, and a sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a man who valued the importance of family, friendship, and the beauty of life’s small, simple moments.

Greg’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his legacy of love, devotion, and joy will live on in the memories he leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Greg. You will be missed more than words can express.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Maryland 21075 (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.
