Heather Michelle Martin., 51, passed away Tuesday March 28, 2024. She was surrounded by family at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland when she entered into eternal rest. She was born July 27, 1972, in Franklin, Ohio.
After attending Franklin High School in Ohio, she began school at Liberty University in Virginia. After receiving her first bachelor’s degree, Heather devoted two years in her mid-twenties to be a missionary in Nairobi, Kenya. She spent most of her time using her nursing skills, and passion for helping others alongside the Maasai tribe in Kenya to contribute positively to her surroundings. Heather’s next project was traveling to many places around the world to spread the gospel, and to continue helping others using her medical skills.
Towards her late twenties and early thirties, Heather returned to America to finish her education at Johns Hopkins University. She managed to receive her second degree alongside certifications in her respective field of nursing. In that process she found her husband Frederick Sturdivant and they married in 2004. Soon after marriage, the Sturdivant’s started their family in Baltimore, Maryland with the birth of their son, Benjamin Sturdivant, in 2006. She quickly followed that by adding a daughter to the family, Hannah Sturdivant, in 2009. Heather also began working at Johns Hopkins on the labor and delivery unit up until her passing.
Heather was known by all that interacted with her as always being a compassionate, loving, and hardworking woman, who was devoted to God and her family. Her passion was nursing, specifically Breastfeeding. She became the head of the lactation department at Johns Hopkins as well. She was always known to care for the people around her and found joy in assisting others. Her love for her family, black-eyed Susans, admiration for elephants, and enjoyment of action movies and HGTV shows were reflections of her vibrant personality and diverse interests.
A lover of both caffeine and companionship, Heather could often be found enjoying a refreshing Coca-Cola or a steaming cup of black coffee while engaging in heartfelt conversations with loved ones. Her innate desire to help others was a cornerstone of her character, touching countless lives with her compassion and generosity.
Left to cherish Heather’s memory are her husband Frederick Sturdivant, her two children, Benjamin and Hannah Sturdivant, her brother Heath (Mary) Martin, parents Jack and Jolene Martin, and parents in law Ben and Linda Sturdivant. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family friends, and coworkers who loved her dearly.
Heather's legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may be gone, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
