She was always helpful, knowledgeable and willing to share any information. I also had the pleasure of seeing how she passed her same work ethic down to her daughter.  From the SSA family, JoEllen was a true gem and will be sorely missed.

Erin and Kristen—I never worked directly with your mom but over the years at SSA we became friends, sharing the joys and challenges of raising our children. She was so proud of her girls! I last saw her at lunch last summer where we chatted about her illness and our shared experiences of being widows. She was so brave and so hopeful and her beautiful smile never left her face. My thoughts are with you as you adjust to the loss of such a wonderful mom, grandmother and special person who will always be remembered.

JoEllen and I worked together for many years. She was one of the best managers at SSA! She cared for her employees, she loved purple Friday! After she retired, we continued to meet for lunch and/or dinner. We talked about everything!! She loved her daughters, grandchildren and family! 

 I’m so honored that I could talk to JoEllen one more time, she truly will be missed!

Rest in peace my friend!

Kristen , I am so sorry to hear about your wonderful Mom . I have so many memories of your Mom and they all involve laughter and smiles . All the trips we had together with Girl Scouts , especially camping , Worthington  Elementary conferences , about you and Ash . Swimming in the winter ,and all day swim meets . My favorite memory was taking adult ballet lessons and getting kicked out with your Aunt Pam because we couldn’t stop laughing and we disrupted the class.  Your Mom loved with her whole heart and I so admired the love your parents had for each other . Now she is united with her Jr. Your Dad and Mom will now be your angels watching over you and Erin and all the grandchildren . Thinking of you , Miss Nancy Levering

JoEllen and I worked together for the last 10+ years of my career at SSA. Sorry to play favorites, maybe it's OK now and maybe it's no secret, but JoEllen was my absolute favorite person to work with. She was dedicated, smart, funny and loyal. We always got the work done, tried to have some laughs, and put the work in its proper perspective. Her family always came first, as it should have. We maintained our friendship, but lost touch for a few periods since retirement. We re-connected in the past year, and here's typical JoEllen: with all that she was going through, she was still the strong 'giving' person, not the receiver of support. A truly beautiful person, she'll be missed by so many.

We are so very sorry to hear the news of JoEllen’s passing. She was a wonderful friend and coworker. She was my last supervisor before I retired, but I considered her more as a friend. We continued to meet for lunch every couple months and talk for hours.  I will most those times most of all. She was a beautiful, kind soul with the biggest heart.  I will miss her terribly.  Prayers for comfort for all who loved her.

JoEllen was my neighbor as well as my co-worker, and I considered her a friend. She was the rare kind of person who just made you feel welcomed, accepted and loved upon the first meeting. She adored her family and extended her nurturing motherly kindness (and good advice!) to so many others as well. The last time I ran into her, before she moved from my neighborhood, I told her she looked great and she replied, with stoicism, that she was taking life day by day and trying to make the most of it. I knew that she had been struggling, but she would never complain. It is heartbreaking to know that Earth has lost one of the best! My love and prayers go out to Erin and Kristen, and their kids. From the Facebook photos I have seen, JoEllen made the very most of the last few years, embraced by their smiles and love.

I’m so very sorry to hear the news of Joellen’s passing.  Joellen was the sweetest young lady I met when she began her career at SSA, she was 18.  I worked with JoEllen thru various positions at SSA and she was the ultimate professional, the most sincere, and unselfish person I worked with.  RIP dear friend❤️‼️

Erin - I am so sorry about the loss of your mom.  She was one of a kind.  She was one of the first people I met when I joined SSA and had a great big smile and welcoming attitude which I was so grateful for.  She continued to be a shining light the entire time we worked together, from quick chats in the hallways, to her earning my fake awards for completing her performance write-ups first.  No matter what the situation was, or how stressful work was, she was always kind.  She cared about you as a person first, and it was always more important than the work.  She will be truly missed.   I feel honored to have known her.

I also have 2 daughters and we would say how Blest we were to have 2 Loving Daughters, especially once we became widows!
JoEllen was my friend since 1978 when we moved into the apartment complex where your mom and dad lived!!
We lost contact for some years but once we saw each other again, it was as if no time had passed!!
I will always remember JoEllens smile and her gentle nature!!

I was saddened to hear about JoEllen passing. I had the pleasure of doing JoEllens hair for many years she was a lovely lady and I always looked forward to seeing her . My deepest sympathies.

JoEllen was one of my first managers at SSA. She was a beautiful, intelligent, and classy woman whom I will always appreciate most for her compassion and kind-heartedness. Once, when I was still a relatively new employee, I saw JoEllen at a local store with some friends; and she introduced me as her friend (not her employee or someone who worked for her, but her friend). This is an example of the gracious humility that made knowing her such a pleasure. I ask God to bless all who loved her. Her legacy will live on.
