John Peter Wojcik Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Peter Wojcik, Jr., age 75, who departed this life on Thursday, February 13, 2025. A devoted family member and cherished friend, John was well-respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Brooks Wojcik; his children, Ricky Wojcik and Kimberly Fox, Tammie Umbel, James Lee Tayman, and Kathryn Harmony Tayman. He was a beloved grandfather to Tristin, Rich Jones, Tre Jones, Joey Wojcik, Katelyn, Kaylee, Juliette, Hannah, Hajirah, Hashim, Musaddiq, Safa, Sumayyah, Qudsiyyah, Sulaiman, Huda, Luqman, Sabir, Hediyyah, Salahudeen, Dua, and Hasanah; and a great-grandfather to Maliah, Hassan, Alaina, and Saif.

He is also survived by his siblings, Michael and Maryann, and was preceded in death by his parents, John Peter Wojcik Sr. and Terasa Ann Wallace, as well as his late sister, Barbara Wojcik Smith.

A proud veteran, John honorably served in the United States Air Force before dedicating his career to law enforcement. Following in his father’s footsteps, he retired from the Hyattsville Police Department, while his father had served with the Washington, D.C. Police Department. His service and commitment to his community left a lasting impact.

Beyond his career, John had a deep love for animals, rescuing both cats and dogs throughout his life. He found joy in watching birds and had a special appreciation for nature. He was also a passionate football fan, always cheering for the Washington Redskins. His love for the game was matched by his collection of ball caps, each with its own unique saying.

A true Marylander at heart, he relished seafood, especially crabs, and enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance. His faith was also an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of the Elkridge Baptist Church.

John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, humor, and generosity will never be forgotten.

A Memorial Service to honor his life will be held at Elkridge Baptist Church, 5929 Setter Drive, Elkridge, MD 21075 on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11:00 AM.
