Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Davenport

On Monday, November 4, 2013, Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Davenport of Severn, MD, formerly of Jessup, MD. Beloved husband of Agnes “A” Davenport. Loving father of Louis J. Davenport and his wife Debbie and Jalish “Mintu” Mahmud and his wife Sakila. Devoted mentor of Alam Hossain and Joe Valesquez and their families. Brother of Marilyn Dunn; grandfather of Janet, Kathryn and Lindsey and great grandfather of Anthony, Frank, Isabella, Conner, Laila and Aleena.

Mr. Davenport was born in Clare, Iowa to his late parents Loire B. and Margaret A. (Fitzgerald) Davenport. He graduated from St. Matthews High School in Clare, Iowa and attended Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa. He entered the U.S. Army in 1950 and served as a sergeant in the Korean War and was discharged in 1959. After the war, he went into the insurance business in 1960 and worked in various insurance businesses and operating his own company. He met his lovely wife of 60 years and they were married on June 13, 1953 and spent 3 years of that in Japan during his military time. Mr. Davenport also was a wonderful father figure and mentor to many young men and their families thoughout the years.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075 (exit 6 off Rt. 100) on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 11, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Elkridge, MD at 10:00 am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park. www.garylkaufmanfuneralhome.com
