Marie Rose Nista, age 94, of Columbia Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Marie was born in the Bronx, New York to her parents, the late Thomas and Mary Maniscalco. She is preceded in death by her dearest sister, Betty Traguardo, and her dear beloved husband of 72 years, Frank Nista. From their love they were blessed with four children; Frankie, Dolores (late husband Mark Tenzer), Anthony, and Maria (husband John Peppe); cherished grandmother of Jennifer (husband Dave Nikischer), Jason Tenzer, Nicholas Peppe, and Christopher Peppe; and loving great-grandmother of Max Nikischer and Reese Tenzer, whom she loved dearly and taught them all to do the same.
Raised in the Bronx, she graduated high school and was then employed by ULLICO Insurance Company as a Data Recording Clerk Typist. After that Marie worked at the Brooklyn Army Base in Brooklyn, New York, doing classified work in the Troop Movement Department, also as a Data Clerk Typist. Where Frank was stationed as a Staff Sergeant.
While raising her children, Marie crocheted many baby blankets and scarves for the poor and babies of unwed mothers and whoever needed them. After raising her children, Marie returned to work at ULLICO for 8 years until she retired. She was affectionately known as “Mother Marie.”
Marie wanted to be remembered as a kind and loving person. She gave love and lots of hugs to all she knew. Her faith in God was very strong. Her only wish was to merit heaven and be reunited with her dear Frank. We all know that the angels carried her on angels’ wings and granted her wish.
Marie always said that love is the greatest gift to give and to receive. In her own words: “My prayers will always be for my loved ones who I have left by going away. Please keep God in your life so that we will all meet again someday. When you look up at the sky at night, picture me among the stars & moon. Shining like them, beautiful burning and bright! I pray that I have done some good in all I have said and done by doing and saying only kindness and not hurt anyone. May I be missed and be a good memory to all I have known. May they also know that I am not alone. For I pray that I am with God above. And that I am in peace. For I have our Lord and his blessed Mother’s love.”
May her beautiful soul rest in peace. Her life on earth was a wonderful gift to us all. Her life in Heaven will be a gift to Him. When you think of her, say a prayer and know that she will put a good word into HIM for you. When you see a butterfly, know she has come to say hello and that she is watching over you. She will be extremely missed by her family and friends. She truly touched the lives of everyone she met.
Family and friends are invited to gather at A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass to be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4795 Ilchester Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043.
