Minnie S. Owens

Minnie S. Owens, age 79, of Columbia, Maryland, concluded her earthly journey on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Born into the loving arms of William Nathaniel and Viola Elizabeth Thompson in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Minnie’s roots began to intertwine with those around her, fostering connections that would last a lifetime.

Growing up in Baltimore, Minnie’s life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service. She was the Beloved Wife of the late Charles H. Owens, Sr., with whom she shared over three decades of marriage, weaving together a life filled with joy, challenges, and triumphs. Minnie’s legacy continues through her Loving Children, Charles H. Owens, Jr. (Kartini) and Kristyn Cornish (Martin); Dear Sister, Benita Simmons; and her Adored Grandchildren, Alycia Walton (Dominique), Charles H. Owens, III, and Kyle Cornish; and Treasured Great-Granddaughter, Aurora Walton. Minnie is predeceased by her parents, husband, and Dear Sister, Mary Elizabeth Cuffie (nee Thompson).

Minnie dedicated over 30 years to the Department of Social Services, beginning her career in Baltimore City before moving to Calvert County, from where she retired in 1997. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her professional life, manifesting in her active and longstanding involvement with Celebration Church in Columbia. There, Minnie immersed herself in Bible Study, finding joy and fulfillment in her faith and community.

A visitation for Minnie will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Celebration Church, 7101 Riverwood Drive, Columbia, MD 21046. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00AM. Interment will immediately follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075.
