

Alice May Manz, 79, of Ellensburg passed away on August 9, 2012 in Ellensburg. She was born May 5, 1933 in Spokane, Washington to Charles and Katherine (Sofko) Bentley. She was raised in Portland, Oregon and graduated from High School there as well.
On October 3, 1969 Alice married Arthur J. Manz in Seattle, Washington. She worked for GE in Seattle, later retiring from the Washington State Employment Security Office in Ellensburg. After retirement, Alice worked for Fred Meyer in Ellensburg and made Wild Rags for cowboys.
Alice volunteered her time for Habitat for Humanity in Ellensburg. She was an active member of the Women’s Guild for the Tacoma Orthopedic Association-Benefiting the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. Alice cared for numerous elderly residents in the Ellensburg area.
Alice was involved in raising, training and riding horses with her husband Art. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and crafts.
Alice was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Farabaugh; son, David Wahlbrink; her parents, Charles and Katherine (Sofko) Bentley; two brothers, Charles Bentley and James Bentley; and her sister, Beverly Bentley.
She is survived by her husband Arthur J. Manz of Ellensburg; two daughters, Laura (Stephen) Williams of Honolulu, Hawaii and Benita (James) Thielman of Selah, Washington; two sons, Kenneth (Diane) Wahlbrink of Prescott, Arizona and Kevin (Lisa) Manz of Yakima, Washington; son-in-law, Merle Farabaugh of Asheville, North Carolina; sister, Patricia Espinosa of Portland, Oregon; brother, Michael Bentley of Portland, Oregon; 15 grandchildren, Adam Farabaugh, Allison (Joel) Stephens, Anthony (Angie) Wahlbrink, Bryan Thielman, Eric (Megan) Vestal, Jennifer (Kyle) Hopkins, Kolten Manz, Krissenda Manz, Kyle Wiegand, Mahina Williams, Maile (Norman) Ho, Nicole Manz, Tabetha (Richard) Justo, Tia (Scott) Peters and Tyler Wahlbrink; nine great-grandchildren, Brandon Ho, Elliott Stephens, Kai Peters, Koa Peters, Layne Hopkins, Lyla Wahlbrink, Madi Stephens, Regan Vestal and Zachary Ho.
Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held 2PM-4PM on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Rosewood Clubhouse, 1100 South Rosewood Avenue in Ellensburg. Steward and Williams Tribute Center are in care of the funeral arrangements.
Donations may be made in Alice’s name to the Tacoma Orthopedic Association benefiting the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
