Denny was born in Groton, CT, on August 16, 1952, to Vincent W. and Agnes C. (Graaff) Mohan. He died on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at his home in Castle Rock, WA. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife, DeeDe Mohan; daughter, Traci Sheen; son, Kevin Mason; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan and Ashley; two great grandchildren, Brayden and Dennis; three brothers, Richard, Kevin and Roberto; and his sister, Bonnie.
He graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1971. While in high school his passion was music. Following high school he was a talented musician and played numerous instruments and sang with many Rock “N” Roll groups throughout the Northwest and Canada. He then became an airplane mechanic and obtained his private pilot license. In 1975 he received his First Degree in Dan Black Belt Taekwondo.
After a short period in parts store management, he changed his career goal spending many years with Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Reserve, retiring at the rank of Reserve Chief. His skills from law enforcement carried over to Timberland and Special Forest Products. At his time of death, he was employed with Weyerhaeuser Columbia Timberlands Inc. in the position of Timberland Security Investigator Supervisor.
Denny enjoyed hunting, jeeping, boating and playing in the sun and countless hours spent with family, grandchildren and friends.
His warm, humble personality was an asset that made him an outstanding mentor and a lifetime friend. He was loved by all who knew him.
Viewing will be held at Steward & Williams Tribute Center from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5th and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6th. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5th at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Ellensburg, WA. Viewing will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6th at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in High Valley Cemetery.
