I enjoyed working with Buck when he was on the Damman School Board.  He had a fun sense of humor and always let you know what he thought about things. ( Don't schedule a meeting during the World Series!) Buck really cared about the students and always wanted the best for them. He served on the board for twenty-three years. He was very supportive of sending the students to fifth grade camp with Ellensburg when they were first invited, and it is still a tradition that the kids look forward to each year.  I hope Buck knew that his life made a difference to the lives of others and I send my condolences to Mary and all  the family.       Jackie Pratt--Ellensburg, WA

Buck was my dad's best friend (Marv Harmon), and although I am not able to be at the memorial on Friday, I wanted to speak for my dad about the kind of man Buck was. Our whole family loved him. Back in the day when Buck & Mary lived behind Happy's, my family always visited them. I was so jealous that they lived so close to buy candy! My dad picked up Buck on M, W & Friday mornings to go have coffee with a group of awesome men, and these men bonded like brothers. Buck could always be counted on to share a great story about his kids, or tell a funny joke! He & and Mary are so loyal and kind to everyone. Every Thursday, after working at FISH, they would come to my parent's house with a pot of coffee and something good to eat. It was the highlight of my mom's limited social circle. Buck was in my mom's class at Thorp, and our families go back for at least three generations. Buck would do, lend, be there for anybody, and he was always happy to serve others. The one thing that I personally loved about Buck is that he reminded me of my father. He seemed gruff on the outside, but he was a teddy bear on the inside. In closing, Buck & Mary raised the best kids & all loved & respected their mom & dad. Your loss is all of our loss. Your dad was one of my heroes and I loved him! Can I add that Mary, while grieving her loss, brought down to my ailing mother a delicious strawberry/rubarb dessert. The kindness of the Matthew's family has meant the world to my family.

I got to share Buck by being married to his brother, Norman. Dr. Verney knew our kids by their "Matthews" heads.  Buck was a good person, always brightened anyone's day, very gentle, and a good listener.  The world as we know it will miss everything about Buck.

So sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of being the pediatric nurse with Dr. Vernie for his beautiful children and greanchildren.

Uncle Buck was a great man with a twinkle in his eye and laughter always being shared. I am glad to have had him in my life. I will miss him so much!

Buck was a great man. He also raised a great famly. I am thankful I lived close to Buck and his family. His kids and I rode the school bus together, attended school together, worked together. A great man with a great family. My condolences to the family.

They broke the mold when Buck was born, thanks for the great hunting excursions,and for being a great friend and neighbor!
