Jordan Elliot Kooy, son of Elliot and Debby Kooy of George, WA, passed away unexpectedly as a result of an illness which began in July of this year. He was born in Quincy, WA on April 2, 1985. He died at his home in Ellensburg, WA on November 6, 2015.
Jordan was the youngest of four children and grew up in the town of George. He attended New Life Christian School in Ephrata during his elementary school years, and during childhood summers enjoyed attending Lake Retreat Family Camp as well as visiting relatives in Colorado. He graduated from Quincy High School, and then traveled to Germany with good friends Chase Grebb and Gabe Render during the summer of 2003.
Artistically gifted, Jordan attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg for four years as a Graphic Design Major. But he found his real life’s work at the Dakota Cafe in Ellensburg, where he became a chef. Not content with merely cooking as an occupation, he would team up with his brother and sisters to produce splendid holiday meals for the family. His genuine smile, warm friendship and that deep bass voice will be missed by many.
Jordan is survived by his parents, his sister Raeben (Jason) Nolan, sister Lauren (Jon) Soini, his brother Andrew (Jennifer) Kooy, his paternal grandmother Gertrude Kooy, his maternal grandmother Reathel Lankford, four nieces, two nephews and 12 first cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ralph Kooy, maternal grandfather, Herbert Lankford, and his uncle Alan Lankford.
A Memorial Service honoring the life of Jordan Kooy will be held at the Free Methodist Church of Quincy, WA on Nov. 23 at 11 am. Arrangements have been made by Steward & Williams Tribute Center of Ellensburg.
