Preston Eugene Waters

Preston Eugene Waters, 31, of Ferndale, WA, courageously lost his battle with a rare cancer on April 1, 2013, at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA.

He was born October 15, 1981, in Great Falls, MT. Later he moved with family to Billings, MT; then Spokane, WA and lastly Whatcom County, WA. He considered Ellensburg, WA as his second home where relatives, especially his grandparents resided, where he loved family traditions and many family events.

Preston wasn’t known for what he did in life like others, but known more for how he made others feel. He was considered a very unique and special individual where he was known to help the down trodden or bring the less fortunate home for shelter. Even during his fight for life, he became loved and adored by his medical team for he was always positive and very polite during times of pain. He had a sweet, gentle and compassionate soul, with a humorous and childlike spirit, which made him loved by many.

Preston is survived by his parents, Wanda Moerike Waters and Richard (wife-Tammy) Waters; sister, Amanda and Jake Richardson, and niece, Natalie; grandparents, Clarence and Barbara Jean Moerike, and Dorothy June Waters; aunt, Jeanine Moerike Dobson and uncle, Mark Crider; uncles, Mike and Gary (wife-Lori) Waters; as well as cousin/brother, Ronald Moerike; cousins, Brandon, Jordan and Shannon Waters; and many other relatives. Lastly surviving is his Chihuahua, Lucy Lou; and Jasmine Lira who he loved as his daughter and assisted as a kinship caregiver to her.

Those who preceded him in death are his uncle, Clarence (JR) Moerike and his grandfather, Lavern Waters.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Steward and Williams Tribute Center, with graveside services at High Valley Cemetery and a potluck reception following at the American Legion, Ellensburg, WA.
