Dear Tate Family:  I am sorry to hear that Richard passed away; please accept my sympathies. I knew Richard when he began his second career as an advocate for elders and as a long-term care ombudsman both  as a volunteer and Regional leader for Yakima and Kittitas Counties.  Richard had a big heart for elders and persons with disabilities.  He valued dignity for everyone and promoted rights for all people living in long-term care.  I enjoyed working with him, learning from him and hearing his stories from the field.   He truly lived a good life.

Please acccept my sincere sympathy.  I enjoyed working for him as my manager while employed as a Noise Engineer at Boeing.  I admired his dedication and fairness.  I am forever grateful of his decision to hire me from the U.K. in 1980 and again in 1985.

The passage of Richard is a personal loss we share with your family.

Richard was a friend and a colleague.  Our friendship goes back to Boeing Wichita in the late 1950's when we worked together in the Acoustics Group.  In hiking with him, the objective for him was not to enjoy where we were, but to be over the next hill or headland.  This personified Richard, ever wanting to go forward.  His positive outlook remained.

We have lost a long time friend.

We are sorry to hear the sad news. Our deepest sympathies are with the family.  For many years over my tenure as a Noise Engineer I worked for Richard going back to late 1960s.  Working with Richard was always challenging and exciting. I am very sad to hear about Richard.  He was a good friend for many fun years during our careers at Boeing.  He was always full of energy and enthusiasm, and was just the ultimate gentleman.

Please accept my condolences for your loss.  Richard hired me into Boeing in 1980 and I worked for him for several years and then again years later until he retired.

I'm very sorry to hear about Richard passing away.   He hired me in to Noise Engineering twenty years ago as his office administrator and I'm still in the group.   He was a great boss and the two of us go along really well.   I was very happy for him that he was able to retire at such a young age and move on to something more fun.   I hope the two of you really enjoyed these last sixteen years together.  My thoughts and prayers are with you, Diane and Ryan.
