Anita is survived by her daughters, Lorna White, Karen (White) Messer (husband Joe Messer), her son, Ken White (wife Webze), her grandchildren, Westin (wife Andrea (Luna) Messer), Bryce Messer, Alex Messer, Luke Messer, and her sister Kay Pearsall (husband Lloyd).
Anita is predeceased by her husband, Bruce White; her son, Roy White; father Harvey Wilkinson and mother Annetta (Pack) Wilkinson; her sister, Margaret Spencer (husband Don).
Anita graduated from Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, along with some close, former high school friends. After graduating as an RN, she and her friends, set off to seek a nursing career in California. This group of valued friends have remained in close contact throughout her lifetime.
While nursing in California, she first met Bruce, her soon to be husband. He declared to his roommate, on the night that he met her, that she was the one who he was going to marry.
Anita was a lover of the Word of God and faithfully attended church for years, participated in evangelistic outreach, and attempted to instill in her children the desire to follow and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
In somewhat recent years, Anita ministered to women in a local prison in Riverview, FL for a time. This was very special to her. One of the women who she ministered the Word of God to, was very changed as a result, as I believe she was born-again during that time. They kept in touch with each other and this precious woman affectionately called her, “Mother Anita”.
Anita had a passion for animals especially dogs and horses. She loved and was loyal to her home country of Canada. She had a great sense of humor, contagious laugh, and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
A small gravesite funeral is planned for Anita’s family and for friends who wish to attend. It is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, February 4th at the Stage Stand Cemetery, located at 4571 S Suncoast Blvd, Homosassa, FL 34446.
