

She was born, raised, and lived most of her life in Tampa, Florida. There she married, raised a family, retired from 25 years as a Social Worker for the Hillsborough County Hospital and Welfare Board, and ran a small business. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister, and spread her kindness and caring throughout the family. Her loved ones cherished the time they had with her.
She was devoted to her husband of 63 years, Thomas C. Valenti (deceased) who was waiting to welcome her. Her family will miss her—daughters Cheryl Ann Sawyer (Sydney), and Norma Jean Slocumb (Boe), grandsons Kevin Michael Sawyer and Trey Thomas Slocumb, step-granddaughter Daphne C. Abrams, sister Mercedes Lopez (Ronald Alward), three step-great-grandchildren, and many beloved relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at Groover Funeral Home in Ellenton on Monday, July 2nd from 11:00 AM till Noon, with services immediately after. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Manatee County Aging Services for services and caring.
