

David Carlyle Durrance, Jr., 59, passed away in his home surrounded by family on March 6, 2015. David was born in Bradenton, October 21, 1956. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deborah Durrance; children Jessica Lindsey and Kathy Platt (John W.); mother Beverly Durrance; sister Denise Perez (Elisha); brothers Dan Durrance (Tracy) and Dean Durrance (Nancy); grandchildren Talon, Annalise, Devon, Justin, Miles, Alexia and Colton; nieces and nephews Nicole Armstrong (Michael), Sam Byram (Carrie), Daniel Durrance, Alex Durrance, Dillon Durrance, Maryann Byram. Three great nephews, one great niece. Step-mother Frieda Durrance. Lifelong friend Eddie Overstreet (Marty) and his family. He was preceded in death by father David C. Durrance, Sr., and sister Diane E. Durrance. David graduated Palmetto High School in 1975. He worked on oil rigs, served in the United States Army for 12 years, and was self-employed. His true passion was the art of making cast nets, fishing on the Manatee River, and passing on the lessons of fishing from his granddaddy to the younger generations. David believed in the importance of God and family. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind." Matthew 13:47. A homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church, 4208 U.S. Hwy 41 South in Ruskin.
