

Donald Edward Brown, 81, of Parrish, Florida, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2024 at his home in Parrish, Florida. Don was born February 15, 1942, the son of Edward Brown and Helen (Tebor) Brown Shelton. He was united in marriage to Lynda Gill of Richmond, Missouri, on October 22, 1961. They were married for 62 years; she survives of the home. He was preceded in death by his son, David Brown.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Meghan (Eric) Carter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Katie Brown of Bon Aqua, Tennessee; Hunter (Nong) Brown of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Sydney Brown of Hellertown, Pennsylvania. One sister, Winona Brown, of Richmond; two nieces, Gena Shade of Kansas City, and Mendy Malott (Russ) of Richmond; two nephews, Robby Gross of Richmond and Stephen Brown of Richmond.
Don graduated from Richmond High School and worked for several years at Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo, Missouri. He later enjoyed a 30 year career with Lumbermen’s Underwriting Alliance of Boca Raton, Florida and lived and worked in Wausau, Wisconsin, Boca Raton, Florida and Little Rock, Arkansas before retiring from his position as Great Lakes Regional Underwriting Manager in 2021. After several years in Little Rock, he relocated to Florida to assist in the start-up of a new insurance company in St. Petersburg, Florida, SUNZ Insurance. At that time he moved to Parrish, Florida, and he and Lynda brought her mother, Hallie Gill to live with them there.
While living in Boca Raton, Don was instrumental in planting a new church, West Boca Presbyterian Church (PCA) and was ordained as an elder. He was involved in The Bible Church of Little Rock, Arkansas, as a choir member and Bible leader. In Parrish, he attended Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (PCA) and later the First Baptist Church of Palmetto, Florida. He loved his Heavenly Father and spent many hours reading and studying God’s Word. He stepped into Heaven with great faith and anticipation of spending eternity worshiping and praising Jesus.
Don loved fishing, hunting and being with his wife, son and grandchildren. He had a huge generous heart and there was always a story to be told of his life experiences. He loved his family and had man friends. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Long View Ranch, 190 Bledsoe Hollow Lane, Mosheim TN 37818, note David and Debbie Brown Memorial Trust.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Groover Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave. East, Ellenton, Florida 34222. A memorial service later in the year will be held in Richmond, Missouri.
