Georgia McDonald

Georgia Evelyn McDonald (nee Whitt), age 88, of Palmetto, Florida joined her loving husband, Alton, and his family, who she considered her own, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in heaven. Georgia was born April 12, 1933 in Waycross, GA. She came to Palmetto, FL at the age of 17. She met Alton while working at the trail restaurant. They were married at First Baptist Church in Palmetto, where they raised their daughter, Marilyn.

Georgia loved spending time with her family. She was very funny, kind, and generous. She was a loving wife and mother, also an adoring grandmother and great grandmother. She will remain in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frances Whitt; sister, Clorine Whitt; her loving husband, Alton McDonald; son-in-law, Greg Bartels; and all of Alton's family.

She is survived by her adoring daughter, Marilyn Bartels; grandson, Michael Bartels; great grandson, David Bartels; great granddaughter, Naomi Clark; great great grandchildren, Ember and Lily. Also many nieces, nephews, and extended family who she loved and adored. She remains in our hearts forever.

Georgia worked at the Trail restaurant in Palmetto, Trophy Nut Co. on Snead Island, and Publix at Bayshore Gardens. After she retired she and Alton enjoyed collecting and selling antiques.

Georgia's family would like to thank the staff at Bayvue. A very special thank you for Rachel, Lavonda, Vicki, Terell, and Angel for so much compassionate care in her remaining days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to hospice. Thank you so much Lavonda, Lisa, and Vanessa.

A visitation for Georgia will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM, 1400 36th Ave East, Ellenton, FL 34222. A graveside service will occur Saturday, February 19, 2022 following the chapel service at Palmetto Cemetery, 900 14th Avenue West, Palmetto, FL 34221.
