Guilda Murlene LaBarr

She is survived by her loving twins, Tim (Vickie) and Ken (Katie). Born September 28,1948, in Wauchula Florida, to Murry and Guilda Lamb, “Mur” was an only child and spent much of her childhood in Wauchula, Florida, with her tight-knit family – aunts, uncles, and cousins. She especially enjoyed spending time with her Granny Knox. After losing her father at a young age, she and her mother moved to Bradenton, where her mother met and married Mur’s stepfather Ron Marchionda, whom she also dearly loved.

During her career, Mur worked as an Executive Secretary at Zoller, Najjar & Shroyer, for 25 years. She retired from Manatee County Government in 2013.

Mur was a true friend and had a close group of friends who were more like family. Many weekends were spent with friends cooking out or enjoying a good meal at a local restaurant. Mur had a way of making people feel heard and understood. She was a good listener and an empathetic soul.

An avid reader, Mur always had her Kindle nearby. She also loved the Turner Classic Movie Channel.

One of the greatest joys of Mur’s life was being “Granny” to four loving grandchildren, Ashley, and Brett Warner, and Noah and Luke LaBarr. Granny was always up for an adventure.

Mur will be laid to rest at a future date in Wauchula, Florida. The service will be limited to family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
