

Mr. Kenneth David Grimes, 50, died Friday November 14 2014, in Winter Haven, Florida. Mr. Grimes was born June 27, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland; the son of Lewis and Janet Grimes. He was preceded in death by both his father and mother. Mr. Grimes graduated from the University of Florida and began his political career with the Republican Party. He then led a distinguished 12 year career as a Legislative Aide in the Florida House and Senate. In recent years, Ken was Vice President of CAS where he worked as a lobbyist for numerous cities, counties, and the Polk County Sheriff. Ken's expertise and experience from over three decades as campaign manager, legislative aide and lobbyist enabled him to have a profound impact on the quality of life in our state and communities. He was a true statesman. Mr. Grimes loved sports and rooting for his favorite teams UF, the Minnesota Vikings and the Orioles. He spent most of his free time with family and close friends whom he cherished more than anything. Ken was a humble gentle soul with a giant generous heart and his Christian faith served as the foundation for everything he did. Mr. Grimes is survived by his four brothers, Steve, Scott, Eric and Lewis III, of Bradenton, 9 nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday November 21, 2014 at Groover Funeral Home Ellenton, FL with a Funeral Service on Saturday November 22 at First Baptist Church of Palmetto at 1 pm.
