Lorna DaCosta-Jones was born in Kingston, Jamaica, where her life began with the warmth, resilience, and independence that would define her journey. She later immigrated to the United States, where she completed both high school and college, building a foundation for a life lived fully and on her own terms - always doing things her way.
In 1963, Lorna married the love of her life, Elwyn Enrique Jones. They shared more than 50 years of marriage, marked by devotion, partnership, and enduring love, until Elwyn’s passing in 2014. Lorna was also predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Lena DaCosta, whom she carried in her heart throughout her life. Though she carried that loss with grace, Lorna’s strength, individuality, and warmth continued to shine through her family life and personal passions.
Lorna dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a registered nurse. Her work reflected her deep compassion, steady presence, and commitment to helping those in need; qualities that extended far beyond her career and into every part of her life.
A woman of many talents, Lorna found joy and expression through cooking, sewing, writing poetry, and pottery. She loved music, especially Motown, with Al Green as her favorite artist. Music often filled her home, accompanying moments of reflection, creativity, and connection. In recent years, she found enjoyment in painting, working on puzzles, watching Steve Harvey, Family Feud, and just about anything on the Game Show Network; pastimes that brought her comfort, laughter, and delight.
Lorna is survived by her beloved children: her son, Elwyn Jones II, and his wife, Ryo; and her daughter, Kimberly Moussavian, and her husband, Hafez. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Ella and Enrique, whom she cherished deeply. She is also survived by her beloved pets Jackie and Prince as well as her brother, Wayne DaCosta, and his wife, Emilia; her sister, Dawn DaCosta-Wade, and her husband, John; as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember her with love.
Lorna DaCosta-Jones will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, creative soul, fierce independence, and unwavering commitment to living life her own way. Her legacy lives on through her family, the lives she touched, and the love she gave so freely.
