A graduate of Palmetto High School, he was a veteran of the US Air Force and was employed by various supply companies.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Van Gemert of Bradenton, FL, four grandchildren: Amaya, Elias, Marcus and Sophia, his mother Sandra Couch, sister Cindy Cannon, and longtime caregivers Rita Fitzgerald and Joe Leitenberger, a niece and two nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A short inurnment ceremony will be at 2 pm Thursday, February 27, at the national cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL.
