

Richard Armstrong Cade, 84, of Palmetto, FL, passed away 8 February 2021 in Bradenton. He was born in Paterson, NJ, the son of R. Bruce Cade and Mabel Bonnell Cade. He was a 47-year resident of Manatee County. Dick was predeceased by his parents R. Bruce and Mabel Cade and sister Sandra Waite. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Johnson Cade and children Robin Cade of Bristow, VA, Ray Cade of Crawfordville, FL, and Tammy Ricci (James) of Buxton, ME, brother Robert Cade (Sandra) of Maitland, sister Diane Sharp of Venice, FL, brother-in-law Stanley Waite of Parrish, sister-in-law Caroline Johnson of Seminole, as well as several dear nieces and nephews.
Dick was a United States Air Force veteran and member of Masonic Lodge #31, Sahib Shriners, VFW, American Legion, and DAV. After moving to Florida in 1966, he was a regional manager for a linen service company, then started his own business in restaurant supplies and services.
Dick’s family was of the utmost importance to him. He loved large social gatherings and looked forward to his monthly trips to the casinos in Biloxi. He also enjoyed watching his birds and wildlife outside his living room window.
Visitation will be held at Groover Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave E., Ellenton on Thursday, 18 Feb at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00. Masks are required. Private graveside services with military honors at Sarasota National Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Audubon Society or Shriners Hospital for Children.
