Stella Ann, aged 83, died peacefully on January 5, 2017 at Westminster Towers where she was a resident for the last several years while battling Parkinson’s Disease. Stella Ann was born November 19, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan.
Stella Ann thoroughly enjoyed the beach, boating, horses, gardening, and being a Grandma. In addition to raising three children, Stella also worked at Burdines as a sales woman for fine China. She then worked for and proudly retired from Southeast Bank, as a customer service banker.
In 1979, Stella Ann married her sweet Charles, and together they led a full life of adventure and love. They began their lives together in Hollywood, Florida and retired first to Lake Placid, Florida where she enjoyed being a member of the Placid Lakes Yacht Club and Lake Placid Garden Club having served in many leadership positions and as Garden Club President.
They then moved to Bradenton and upon moving to the Bradenton area, Stella Ann joined the Manatee River Garden Club, Camellia Circle, where she also served as President of her circle. She enjoyed community service and was instrumental in having many local students attend Camp Waikiva through the Manatee River Garden Club and the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. She, through the MRGC, is responsible for the current Blue Star Memorial’s placement and dedication at the downtown Riverwalk. Although she enjoyed all types of gardening, she enjoyed the art of butterfly gardening, in particular.
Stella Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother and her husband Charles. She is survived by her three daughters, Karen McAteer (Cooper City, FL), Linda Evans (Hollywood, FL), and Connie Dixon (Bradenton, FL); two sons-in-law, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a niece.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, 11:00 AM at Mansion Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel of Peace in Ellenton, FL. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her and loved her.
