Terry Lynn Murphy passed away peacefully at the age of 56 on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. Terry was in the loving company of her husband and younger sister at the time of her passing, to see her quietly begin her final journey. Terry had battled bravely against multiple cancers for the past two years before she finally rested in the comfort of her Lord in Heaven. Terry is survived by her husband and closest companion of 22 years, Carl L. Burke, her five sisters Vicki Brooks, Lynda Murphy, Jewel Murphy-Rose, Susie Murphy, Jerice Tenebruso, and brother Bradley Murphy.
The world was blessed with Terry’s arrival on January 20, 1956 in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine to parents Gloria Anne Wentworth and Clifton Lewis Murphy. She started her educational years in Abbot, Maine and finished her high school graduating from Greeley High School in Cumberland, Maine. After a brief venture to explore her opportunities in New Jersey, Terry made her final migration to the sunnier climates of Florida in early 1983 for a new life in Tampa. Terry’s diligence, hardworking ethics and business aptitude quickly brought her to a management level in the construction and financial communities. Terry served for several years as a volunteer care giver in the Hospice organization which introduced her to her dearest friend and “adopted mom”, Anne Steger.
It was also at this time that Terry met her husband-to-be, Carl Burke, through her business associations. After many years of growing friendship and affection, Terry moved to Bradenton to be with Carl, where they shared a home together for the next 20 years. The two were joined in marriage on December 16, 2000 at Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton as witnessed by all of her friends and family.
Terry was known by all for her boundless love, compassion and charitable heart. All those whose lives she touched were enriched by her presence. Through all of life’s adversities, Terry persevered without complaint or grief.
A memorial service celebrating Terry’s life was held for her family and closest friends on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 at 3:00PM in the Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Florida. A separate service of final interment was held the following week on Friday, April 20th, 2012.
