William Lynn Sawdy, 84, passed away at Greenbriar Rehabilitation Center in Bradenton on Monday, April 25, 2016. Born in Platea, Pennsylvania on November 10, 1931, moving to Palmetto in 1955 from Erie, Pennsylvania. Served two years in Germany in the United States Air Force, and active in reserve for 12 years. Member of First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, but attended Ellenton United Methodist Church. Lived in Palmetto, where he owned Sawdy Electric for many years before starting Sawdy Trucking, which he operated for 12 years. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia, son Mickey (Kim), daughter Jenni Lynn Pavlisko, grandchildren Curry Sawdy, Baylee Sawdy, Olivia Sawdy, Cobryn Hopkins and Bryon Hopkins and many loving friends and family. Preceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Sarah Sawdy, sister Blanche Smith and brother Robert Sawdy. Memorial service will be held at Groover's Funeral Home in Ellenton on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10 am.
