Born in South Weymouth, MA in 1942 to William Weir and Mary Teresa Wood. Bill was predeceased by his wife Elaine M. Weir, his son Scott A. Weir and his brother Richard Weir. Bill leaves behind his son Brian Weir, Jessica Doherty and his granddaughter Maria Weir of Palermo, Ny. He also leaves behind his brother’s family Delza Weir, niece Meliza Weir and nephew Nathan Weir and their families.
Bill graduated from Weymouth High School in 1960 and went on to Northeastern University where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Elaine and Bill married in 1965 and shortly thereafter settled in Canton, Massachusetts. His son Scott was born in 1967 and Brian in 1968. Bill spent many years working as a Project Manager for several Mechanical Contractors in the Boston area. He ended his career working for Harvard University.
When not working, Bill loved to spend time on or around the water, especially around the shores of Cape Cod. He loved boating, enjoyed fishing (but never cared if he caught anything), was a big dog lover, loved biking, especially along the Cape Cod Canal and also in Florida. He was still biking at 81 years old. He also enjoyed his visits to ME to his brother’s family’s lakeside cabin. In later years, he enjoyed his visits to Upstate New York where he’d often spend the end of summer and fall with his son Brian and family. Bill was incredibly handy, and knew how to fix and build anything. He was known for his incredible work ethic.
Bill did not wish for formal services. In his honor, consider a donation to Tidewell Hospice https://tidewellhospice.org/
