Andrew was born on July 26, 1955 in Lincoln, Illinois to Marvin and Marian (Ries) Block. He graduated from Carl Sandburg High School in 1973, where he played the trumpet in the school marching band. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He married Linda (Lovelle) Block at a landmark chapel in Tinley Park, Illinois in the summer of 1983.
Together, they moved to San Diego, where their two children, Melanie and Carl Block, were born. Andrew worked as a truck driver for EDCO for 30+ years, demonstrating a strong work ethic and loyalty to his fellow coworkers. Andrew loved spending time with his family, and had a passion for horse racing, all sports, and Chicago-style food. Although he grew up on the south side of Chicago (White Sox territory), Andrew was a diehard Cubs fan, a passion that was passed on to his son Carl. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, two children Melanie and Carl, mother Marian Block, sister Cynthia (Al) Szymanski, aunt Gladys Block, brother-in-law Vince (Sandy) Lovelle, sisters-in-law Joan Ring and Debbie (Paul) Alsing, and many nieces and nephews.
