Kimberly Diane Coody was born to Allen Kimbrough Coody and Myrtice Hall Coody in San Diego, California on October 13, 1946. A life-long San Diego resident, Kim graduated from San Diego State University and became a home economics teacher and ASB advisor at Mira Mesa High School, Vice Principal at Roosevelt Middle School, and Vice Principal at Patrick Henry High School. She was also a Chapter One resource teacher. She never had kids of her own but dedicated her life, love and care to every student who came through her doors. It seemed Kim was always smiling, laughing and upbeat, easily finding the positive spin on any situation life offered. She adored her friends, family and pets including three beloved cats, Max, Misha and Chloe. Kim had an adventurous spirit and was passionate about travel and wildlife photography. She visited Africa twice, along with Antarctica, Norway, Costa Rica, Canada and Europe. An extremely talented chef, baker, seamstress, gardener, bargain hunter and gift-wrapper, Kim delighted in making the holidays incredibly joyous, artful and delicious. She will be deeply missed but her bright spirit will live on in those friends she is survived by, as well as family-- her sister Carole Lee Laventhol, niece Alison Laventhol and Alison’s long-time partner, Philip Baker.
