Marcello Rosino, a man whose life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and a pursuit of excellence, passed away on August 23, 2023, at the age of 92. Born in Rome, Italy on January 6, 1931, Marcello was the eldest child in a family of five siblings. He was a son, a brother, a loving husband, a doting father, and a cherished grandfather. His life was marked by a remarkable journey from his Italian roots to becoming a renowned master tailor in the United States.
As a young man, Marcello followed in his father's footsteps, honing his skills as a master tailor in the heart of Rome. He developed an extraordinary talent for his craft, which he carried with him throughout his life. He bore the responsibility of being the only son, alongside his four sisters, Carla and Fernandina being the sisters who preceded him in death.
In 1963, Marcello made a life-altering decision to leave his homeland and set sail for the United States aboard the Christopher Columbus, a journey reminiscent of his own grandfather's migration. He disembarked in New York and swiftly embraced the opportunities that awaited him. His craftsmanship found a home in the bustling garment factories, and soon he made his way to Baltimore, Maryland, to collaborate with his dear friend from Italy.
Driven by an unwavering ambition, Marcello's dreams led him westward to the vibrant city of Los Angeles. With two of his best friends by his side, he aspired to become the tailor to the stars. His talent and dedication quickly caught the attention of Hollywood's elite. Marcello's hands meticulously crafted custom suits for iconic figures such as the Rat Pack, Sonny Bono, Cher, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds, Peter Lawford, Gary Morton, Michael Douglas, Arsenio Hall, John Wayne, and Rock Hudson, among countless others. His garments graced the silver screen and red carpets, becoming a testament to his artistry.
Yet amidst his professional accomplishments, Marcello's heart remained loyal to his beloved Italy. It was during a visit back to his homeland that he met the love of his life, Lina, at the very tailor store where his journey began. Their whirlwind romance led to an engagement in just a week's time, followed by a joyous wedding in Rome five months later in January 1931. Marcello and Lina embarked on a new chapter together, building a life in the United States that would be marked by love, dedication, and a shared vision for their future.
Marcello Rosino's legacy extends beyond his mastery of tailoring and celebrity clientele. He was a devoted father to his only daughter, Maria, and a cherished father-in-law to Luke. His role as a grandfather brought immeasurable joy, as he watched Sofia, Michela, and Julianna grow and flourish.
Marcello's life journey was underscored by his pride in his achievements, his relentless pursuit of the American dream, and his enduring love for his Italian heritage. He took pride in witnessing his daughter achieve academic success, earning both a college degree and a doctorate.
As we say farewell to Marcello Rosino, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with passion, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to family. His memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
