William “Bill” LeRoi Farlow was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 27, 1959 to his parents Jean and LeRoi Farlow. Bill graduated from Sandia High School in 1977, then joined the Marine Corps in 1978 which took him to San Diego where he began a life in civil service. For his primary career, he served 20 years at the North County Transit District as a Code Enforcement Supervisor, after which he served as Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Solana Beach. He then entered retirement in December 2021.
Bill met the love of his life, Lorretta, in 1985. They welcomed daughters Anna in 1986, and Caitlyn in 1989. They were married in 1989 with their daughters by their side. Together they raised their daughters in San Diego, settling in Carlsbad. Bill was loved by his family and friends, with whom he enjoyed mountain biking, watching movies, playing the guitar and being a die-hard Padres fan. He will always be remembered as a gentle giant with a quick wit, great sense of humor, and ready laugh. Bill doted on his granddaughter Christina, to whom he was known as “Grandad.” He was fun-loving, curious, and caring, a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, and grandfather. Though he was taken from us too soon and will be greatly missed, his love of life touched us all and will live on forever.
He is survived by his wife Lorretta, daughter Caitlyn of Carlsbad and daughter Anna (Juan Gonzalez) and granddaughter Christina of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mother Jean Farlow of Austin, Texas, and sister Catherine (Wade) Cooper of Austin, Texas
A Celebration of Life will be held at El Camino Memorial, 340 Melrose Ave, Encinitas, CA 92024, US, on March 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
