

Harriet Bryan, 91, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Englewood, Florida. Born on July 17, 1934, in Montgomery, Alabama, Harriet carried her Southern roots with grace and warmth throughout her life.
She earned a master’s degree in education and devoted her professional career to teaching elementary school students in Georgia. Harriet had a deep passion for fostering young readers and took great joy in nurturing a love of books among her students. Her dedication left a lasting impression on countless children and families over the years.
Faith was central to Harriet’s life. A devoted student of the Bible, she spent decades researching scripture and actively participating in—and often leading—Bible study groups. Her spiritual devotion was matched by her generous spirit and heartfelt compassion for others.
Beyond the classroom and church, Harriet embraced adventure. She traveled extensively across the United States and abroad, always eager to explore new places and cultures with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Jordan and Jack Bryan; as well as her son, Tom Jordan. She is lovingly remembered by her son Sam Jordan and his wife Betty; granddaughters Christy Wackes (Chris), Becky Jordan Covey (Tim), and Kimberly Jordan; and great-grandsons Teddy and Gus Wackes.
Harriet leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering optimism. She embodied classic Southern hospitality—welcoming friends and strangers alike with a warm smile, generous heart, and playful sense of humor.
A Memorial Service will be held on September 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 700 E Dearborn St., Englewood, Florida. Following the service, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
