Ken was born October 29, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to Lewis Kleinlein, and Madeline Kleinlein (nee Dermody).
Ken led a remarkable life of service to his fellow man, and could be defined by his strong work ethic and integrity. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He joined the US Army at 18, then served twenty two years in the Army National Guard, retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class. In 1957 he joined the New York Police Department and during a distinguished career received many commendations and awards, rising to the rank of Detective First Grade in the Special Frauds Squad. Ken was very proud of the many pickpocket and fraud arrests he made during his career while working to keep the streets of New York safer.
While serving in the National Guard Ken met the love of his life, Kathy Lynn Perricone and they were married after a whirlwind romance. Ken always said Kathy was the one true guiding light in his life.
Ken enjoyed being surrounded by people and was known for his quick wit and intelligence. He was active in several “10-13” clubs for retired police officers and active in politics, having formerly served as an elected member of the Sarasota County Charter Review Board. Ken was a proud fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He loved baseball and enjoyed traveling the world with his friends and beloved wife, Kathy.
