

Melvin E. Ullrich Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Englewood, Florida. Born on January 13, 1937, in Buffalo, New York, Mel lived a life rich with service, adventure, and deep devotion to family and community.
Mel proudly served his country in the United States Navy and the Navy Seabees. A man of strong values and camaraderie, he was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodges in both Grand Island, NY, and Englewood, FL.
His love of the water was a defining part of his life. Mel was a member of the Buffalo Launch Club, where he held the distinguished title of Commodore in 1976. He also belonged to the Buffalo Yacht Club and the American Legion.
A general contractor by trade and an avid boater at heart, Mel was known for his hard work, generosity, and a vibrant personality that brought people together. He loved playing cards, entertaining friends and family, and spending time traveling and camping—always ready for a good story or a shared laugh.
Mel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol A. Ullrich. He is survived by his sons, Melvin E. Ullrich III (Sharon) and Kevin R. Ullrich (Carol); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jack R. Ullrich (Wendy).
He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, joy, and enduring love. Mel will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
