BAILEY, Elmer Cletus “Butch”, 70 of Tipp City went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, September 25, 2016. Butch leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 49 years Anita (nee Casey) Bailey, two sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Stephanie Bailey, Paul and Kristen Bailey all of Tipp City. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren Zane, Zeth, Zadie, Zayden and Zander; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Robert Allen of Centerville, two nephews Sean and Sherri Killingsworth, Zachary and Stephanie Wasp. Butch was lovingly adopted to Anita’s family by A.G. and Katheryne Casey in 1967 and is also survived by those who called him brother: Glenda Duvall, Pat Ticer, Phyllis Byrum, Glynn & Melodi Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Clinton and Goldie Thresel (nee Bays) Bailey. Butch was an active member of West Charleston Church of the Brethren. After graduating from Wilbur Wright High School in 1965, Butch served in the US Air Force. His dedication to service and his love of people influenced his decision to become a police officer and he retired after 25 years of service from the City of Oakwood Police Department. After retiring, his joy of “tinkering” motivated him to start Blue Knight Enterprises. He built hot rod cars, but the joy of this work was his restoring a vintage hydroplane boat called the Miss DeSoto. He enjoyed piloting it several times. Butch will be greatly missed but his memory will go on. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren, 4817 State Route 202, Tipp City starting at 10:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Butch’s life at 12:00 noon with Pastor’s Irv and Nancy Heishman presiding. Burial will follow in the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL. Messages of support to his family may be made at: www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
