

THOMAS, James D., 70 of Brookville passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the VA Medical Center Hospice with his family at his side. James is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Joan (Strackbein) Thomas, four children Robert and Aimee Thomas of CO, Sharon and Thomas McFadden of Waynesville, Susan McWilliams of FL, David Thomas of Brookville, seven grandchildren Amanda, Ashley, Andrew, Lindsey, Alexis, Sarah and Emily. Also surviving are two sisters Carol Thomas of Dayton, Diann and Bill Brown of Fairborn, and brother Paul Thomas of Clayton. He was preceded in death his parents John A. and Dorothy (Zennie) Thomas, brother Donald J. Thomas and sister Norma Ford. James was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration, West Milton, Dayton Amateur Radio Association and a US Naval Veteran serving in Viet Nam. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends Friday, October 10, 2014 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, 675 West Wenger Road from 4:30 – 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGURATION, 972 South Miami Street, West Milton, Ohio with Fr. Kenneth Baker celebrant. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery Brookville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of James.
