Cornelius O'Brien Johnson

Cornelius O'Brien Johnson passed away peacefully with family by his side the morning of November 19th. Cornelius was born on December 13, 1913 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to John and Sylvia Johnson. He married Mary Viola Brigner on October 19, 1935 and moved his family from Indiana to Escondido in 1946. They were married for nearly 50 years prior to her death.

He married Violet Charlene Vencill on January 5th, 1985 and were married for 28 years. In Corny's early years he worked for B&O Railroad as a brakeman. He also worked lathing construction for over 20 years and in his retirement years spent time in security, parts delivery, and volunteered as a fruit gleaner. Corny enjoyed reading, traveling, his collection of train memorabilia and he loved chocolate covered cherries. Cornelius was also a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Escondido and a choir member for over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife Violet, and 5 children, Jerry, Jean Diane, Jane, Joan, and Joyce. Altogether Cornelius has 20 grandchildren, 32 great grand children and 8 great great grandchildren. "Just Fling a Tie"
