

Born in Portland, OR, Jay passed away at his home in Escondido, CA on April 12, 2013 from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Jay is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jennie, and was a loving father to his daughter, Shelby (husband, Peter) and son Sean (wife, Karli). Jay and Jennie met while working with Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) at Riverside Raceway and enjoyed traveling and doing Timing and Scoring at many tracks.
Jay was a resident of Escondido since 1974 while being employed by NCR/ Teradata for 39 years. Jay was heavily involved in Boy Scouts of America in the Escondido area. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1968, and was also a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow. After serving as the Scoutmaster of Troop 693 and Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 659, Jay was selected and completed the most advanced adult Scouting training program, Wood Badge training in 2007. Jay was also a member of American Legion Riders 149 and Sons of the Legion 149, Escondido, CA. He had a passion for aiding wounded warriors and homeless veterans. He was a kind, funny, and generous man and was loved by many. Jay’s involvement with the ALS Research Dept. at UCSD continues to further the knowledge of this disease.
