Elliott, the son of Myron and Agnes Longacre, was born and raised with his sister Louise in Whittier, California. He graduated Whittier High in 1951 and went on to college. Elliott earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from University of California at Berkeley in 1956. After graduation from college and ROTC, he served as Captain in the US Air Force medical core and was deployed to Japan for two years of that enlistment.
Elliott co-owned a community pharmacy store in Garden Grove, California and later moved to San Diego there he continued to practice until retirement. Elliott was an antique Ford enthusiast participating in a "T" club for many years. Proud of his model T he liked driving it and working on it to keep the parts in working order and authentic . An true fan and lover of the opera and symphony, he was accomplished himself on piano and organ. He enjoyed a huge collection of music and loved to read.
Everyone described him as kind, smart, and a true gentleman.. He was known for his quick wit and great stories. Elliott was also diligent to stay in contact with family members on both paternal and maternal sides of his family, as well as his college and lifelong friends far and near. He was an avid traveler both in the US and abroad. His friends were his extended family and spending time having them visit his home, or going on road trips to visit them, gave him great joy.
His home away from home was a cabin in Arrowhead Highlands by Lake Gregory, California which he dubbed East Lynn Hotel Annex (from his Missouri roots). This is where he loved to be most of all and enjoyed so much to invite his family and friends there to entertain them. Quite the travel guide he had many suggestions for visitors on hiking the area, things to see and where to dine.
After many years in San Diego, Elliott moved to Escondido in 2012 to be nearer to his sister and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Louise Coast, and is survived by his nieces Cathy Ingalls, Christa Wilkerson, Caren Graham Larsen, and nephew Pat Coast, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins he so dearly loved.
Our beloved "Unc" is free now and resting in peace.
Remembrances can be made in his name to American Cancer Society or UCSF Pharmacy school.
A celebration of life to be held a later date.
