Jose Guadalupe Magallon

Jose Guadalupe Magallon was born in Jiquilpan, Michoacan de Ocampo, Mexico on December 12, 1920 to Dionisio Magallon Gallardo and Maria Natividad Alvarez Coyt. He was a skilled and hardworking agricultural worker and life-long resident of both Escondido, CA & Sahuayo, Michoacan, Mexico. He passed away on May 8, 2022 at the age of 101 in Escondido, CA.

Jose was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and loving partner, Esther Magallon, on October 5, 1946 in Jiquilpan, Michoacan de Ocampo. Jose helped raise his eight children with patience, discipline and humility. He was a very supportive, caring, thoughtful, assuring and protective father. He was a provider by nature making sure his family never went without any necessity.

Jose always loved working with his bare hands. A person filled with vigor, enthusiasm, and energy. These qualities of his carried over to a long-lasting and fruitful career in agriculture for over 75 years. He also had a love for Western and Mexican Culture, which was expressed in his everyday lifestyle and fashion. He was very passionate about all things encompassing horses such as: rodeos (Charreadas), horse shows, endurance riding, and horse training.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Esther Magallon; his children, Imelda, Carlos, Gilberto, Bertha, Luis, Leticia, Maria and Sergio; his brother, Jesus Magallon Alvarez; and more than twenty of his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

Funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 am on May 20, 2022 at the Church of Resurrection on 1445 Conway Drive, Escondido, CA 92027. A funeral service will held on May 21, 2022 at 4:00 pm at McLeod Mortuary on 1919 E Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027.
