Rose C. Loitz

Rose Loitz went home peacefully to be with her heavenly Father, mom, dad, brothers and sisters on January 13, 2015. She was born on April 20, 1926 in Grand Junction, CO to Rosina and Joseph Chiaro. Rose attended GJHS and graduated in 1943. In 1945 and '46 she studied the fine arts at Mesa College. Rose worked for the War Department as a secretary and Deputy Clerk of the District Court in Grand Junction.

She retired from the Defense Department at March Air Force Base in 1986.

Rose married Herb Mertz, and the union produced four children: Kathy Russell of Escondido, CA; Garreth Dario of Pahoa, HI; Steven Mertz of Denver, CO; and Conni Walz of Annapolis, MD. Rose is survived by all four children, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two sisters - Lucy Shuey of Murietta, CA and Angie Sinnott of San Lorenzo, CA. A viewing will be held at McLeod Mortuary Thursday January 15, 2015 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and the Funeral Services will be hald at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11am.
