

William Wesley Roberds, 85, passed on September 10, 2022 surrounded by family in Escondido, CA. He was born on January 28, 1938 at home in Caney, Kansas and moved West to California at a young age. He met his loving wife, Gloria Ann, as children. They married on September 10, 1955, celebrating 67 years of a beautiful life together.
Roberds served as a Medic and HAM radio operator in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Fort Ord during the Korean War, San Diego for hospital training, Mitchel Field in Long Island, Greenland, Edwards and George Air Force Bases in CA. After discharge, William and Gloria lived in Bakersfield, San Jose and then settled in Salinas, CA. William worked a 20+ year career at National Life while raising their three children. After retirement, they spent several years traveling the country in their RV exploring new adventures together while visiting old (and new) friends, their children, and grandchildren.
In 2001, “Bill” and Gloria moved to Goodyear, AZ where they enjoyed golf and beautiful sunsets, They spent summers in Idaho and California and recently moved to San Marcos, CA to be near family.
Roberds is survived by his wife, Gloria; three children, William Roberds (Louann) of Boise, ID, Roxanne Buckner (Jeff) of Salinas, CA, Brian Roberds (Andrea) of San Marcos, CA; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Almond (Ellis), Dana Pace (Andrew), Jennifer Ferrante (Dominic), Tyler, Lauren, Christina and Nikolaus Roberds; and soon-to-be six great-grandchildren. William had a passion for golfing his entire life and in younger years enjoyed hunting, boating and jeeping with his family. He was an active member of the Salinas Moose and Elks Lodges. Some of William’s other favorites included Gloria’s pancake breakfasts with the grandkids, movie nights with ice cream sundaes, and visits with family and friends around the country. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
A graveside memorial service is planned for his family on October 4, 2022 at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside, CA.
