
July 26, 1936- August 30, 2011 Surrounded by his immediate family, Fred Salinas left peacefully at Mad River Hospital in Arcata, California on August 30, 2011. Fred was born on July 26, 1936 in Bishop, Texas. He grew up in Corpus Christi until he moved to Humboldt County in 1963. He was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe and mother Petra Salinas. Fred is survived by his loving wife Janet of 42 years; his brother Richard Salinas of Corpus Christi, Texas; two children, Tim Salinas (Sophia) and Teresa Cyr (LeRoy); grandchildren Joe Marshall (Nelia), Jude Marshall (Windi), Emmanuel and Cherish Cyr, and Josh, Rebecca and Andrew Salinas, as well as numerous great grandchildren. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked many years in the timber industry until retirement. His passion was playing softball and twice competed in the World Senior Games in Saint George, Utah. His was an avid painter, old car enthusiast, gardener, carver, and enjoyed many hobbies. Fred will be truly missed by all. The family would like to thank staff at Mad River Hospital for their loving care. There will be a "Celebration of Life" and potluck on September 6, 2011 at 12:00 pm at Mad River Grange, 110 Hatchery Road in Blue Lake, California.
